Mikel Arteta’s defending champions maintained their perfect start to the new season with a 2-1 win over Chelsea on Sunday. Arsenal trailed through Morgan Rogers’ early opener but came from behind thanks to goals from Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard. The win means only Arsenal and Manchester City boast a perfect record after three games while Chelsea taste defeat for the first time this season. Deeney picked Raya as the goalkeeper in his Premier League team of the week for BBC Sport after he pulled off a brilliant save to deny Estevao a Chelsea equaliser late on. Arsenal summer signing Ezri Konsa was also included after an impressive performance alongside Gabriel, with Chelsea’s dazzling front-three kept relatively quiet at the Emirates Stadium. He comes in again and just makes that massive tackle on Morgan Rogers. ‘I think he slots into what is an already incredible Arsenal team. Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal downed Chelsea on Sunday at the Emirates (Picture: REUTERS) Chelsea defender Maxence Lacroix reckons the Blues deserved a draw against Arsenal on Sunday as luck was against them in the 2-1 defeat at the Emirates. Xabi Alonso’s side made the ideal start to the afternoon in north London as Morgan Rogers scored the opener within two minutes. That sparked a brilliantly entertaining first half which was end-to-end and finished level after Kai Havertz equalised for the home team. The second period was not quite as thrilling as Martin Odegaard put Arsenal ahead on 50 minutes and Mikel Arteta’s men were largely in control from then on. Chelsea did have periods of pressure and Estevao forced David Raya into a fine save late on, but Arsenal were good value for the three points. Lacroix did not quite see it like that, feeling that the west Londoners deserved a draw in the derby, but did not have luck on their side. ‘We are a little bit unhappy, of course, after losing, but I believe that we did well to be honest,’ said the France international. Chelsea centre-back Maxence Lacroix says the Blues "deserved more" from their 2-1 defeat against Arsenal. The 26-year-old has featured in all four games for Xabi Alonso since his £52m move from Crystal Palace and although Chelsea have only lost one game, they have conceded seven goals in three league fixtures.
