On Matchday 1 of the league phase, Real Madrid hosted Inter in a game that was very exciting from the start to the end. Real Madrid took advantage of two key mistakes Inter had in the first half to put themselves with a comfortable 2-0 advantage at halftime. Kylian Mbappe and Federico Valverde scored for the Merengues in what seemed an easy win for them. Nevertheless, Inter pushed all the second half to get closer in the score. Carlos Augusto was able to score the 2-1 in the second half, but it was too late and was not enough to even get the draw at Santiago Bernabeu stadium.

The Brazilian winger has endured a slow start to the new season after a summer in which he was heavily linked with a move to Premier League champions Arsenal. ‘You can hear the whistles at Vinicius Junior,’ former Real Madrid midfielder McManaman said on TNT Sports after the 26-year-old gave the ball away in the second half.
