The Bournemouth midfielder – a top transfer target for Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool – has suffered a quad injury and may be sidelined for several months. Scott came off the bench to make his England debut in the win over Czech Republic in Prague last week before starting the 7-0 demolition of Croatia on Saturday. His performance earned rave reviews, not least from manager Thomas Tuchel, upping his valuation amid strong interest from the Premier League’s biggest clubs. However, as reported by The Athletic, the 23-year-old has now returned to the south coast following the injury and it is said there are fears he could be stuck in the treatment room for two months. If so, it is a major blow for Bournemouth who are 17th in the table and yet to win in the league this season, and have their debut Europa League campaign to navigate. Scott started all five opening league games of the season, providing one goal and one assist. {"@context":"https:\/\/schema.org","@type":"VideoObject","name":"Thomas Tuchel purrs over 'so smooth' Chelsea and Liverpool transfer target","contentUrl":"https:\/\/videos.metro.co.uk\/video\/met\/2026\/10\/04\/2006306866574017169\/480x270_MP4_2006306866574017169.mp4","description":"Thomas Tuchel has heaped praise on Bournemouth's Alex Scott after his first start for England in the 7-0 demolition of Croatia on Saturday.","duration":"T40S","height":270,"thumbnailUrl":"https:\/\/i.dailymail.com\/1s\/2026\/10\/04\/11\/111638029-0-image-a-1_1791109260959.jpg","uploadDate":"2026-10-04T11:19:44+0100","width":480} To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Up Next Previous Page Next Page window.addEventListener('metroVideo:relatedVideosCarouselLoaded', function(data) { if (typeof(data.detail) === 'undefined' || typeof(data.detail.carousel) === 'undefined' || typeof(data.detail.carousel.el_) === 'undefined') { return; } var player = data.detail.carousel.el_; var container = player.closest('.metro-video-player'); var placeholder = container.querySelector('.metro-video-player__up-next-placeholder'); if (placeholder) { container.removeChild(placeholder); container.classList.add('metro-video-player--related-videos-loaded'); } }); Manager Marco Rose will no doubt give a clearer update on his star player’s condition before the Cherries’ big match against Chelsea this Saturday.
