Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin was handed his first start at a World Cup finals but could not inspire Belgium to victory over Iran in Los Angeles. The 25-year-old, who had come on as a substitute in their opening 1-1 draw with Egypt, was given a holding role in his 15th Belgium appearance but was himself withdrawn after 58 minutes of the goalless stalemate in Group G. Belgium dominated the first half but created few clear opportunities.
