Youngster Devaney focused on making it at Man Utd
Jacob Devaney is happy to go out on loan again this season if it helps his career, but his main focus remains on making it at Manchester United. Devaney, 19, had an outstanding second half of the campaign at St Mirren, making 18 appearances, including starting both legs of the play-off final with Partick Thistle as the Buddies secured their top-flight status. Decisions are still being made around which United youth players will be in Michael Carrick's first-team squad at Old Trafford this season and Devaney was part of a second-half team that came exclusively from the club's academy against Wrexham in Helsinki on Saturday.

Man Utd can be thankful Carrick is in charge
In the immediate aftermath of Ruben Amorim's dismissal in January, Manchester United let it be known their search for a new boss would be widespread – and would likely involve managers who were committed to countries competing at the World Cup. In United's case, the three most commonly mentioned were Carlo Ancelotti, Julian Nagelsmann and Thomas Tuchel. If Tuchel had been preparing to take over at Old Trafford given the fall-out from his perceived tactical disaster against Argentina, the German would have found himself on the back foot from day one.
Aspinall eyes Mount if Baleba joins Man Utd
Former Brighton midfielder Warren Aspinall says the Seagulls should target Manchester United's Mason Mount if the Red Devils renew their interest in Carlos Baleba. Baleba was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2025, but struggled for form last season in Fabian Hurzeler's side after no deal materialised. Mount himself has struggled for form and fitness since joining United from Chelsea in 2023.

Will Man Utd be compensated for Ugarte injury?
Manuel Ugarte suffered a knee ligament injury whilst at the World Cup with Uruguay and there have been several questions submitted via our Manchester United Ask Me Anything form about whether the Old Trafford club will be compensated for it. The money doesn't come from Uruguay, it comes from Fifa's insurers. It is not completely clear what Ugarte's salary is because most Premier League players will have bonuses and image rights included as part of their contract.
