Manchester United are reportedly preparing to make a January transfer window bid for Real Madrid forward Endrick. The Red Devils could do with strengthening their attack in the next transfer window after a summer spent focusing on rebuilding their midfield as Carlos Baleba, Youri Tielemans, and Andrey Santos all moved to Old Trafford. However, Man […] The post From Spain: Man United preparing €60-70m January transfer bid for striker upgrade appeared first on CaughtOffside.

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho reportedly seems to be frustrated with Aurelien Tchouameni’s fitness issues, in a possible boost for Manchester United. The Red Devils were keen on Tchouameni during the summer, though a deal never materialised as they instead signed Carlos Baleba, Youri Tielemans, and Andrey Santos as their three new additions for that […] The post €100m Manchester United transfer target could be available in January as issue emerges appeared first on CaughtOffside.

CHRIS WHEELER: United's £163million spend on midfielders Carlos Baleba, Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and teenage winger Tynan Thompson was less their biggest rivals.

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso (Picture: Getty) A Chelsea transfer window is rarely short of comings and goings, and that remained the case for Xabi Alonso’s first summer at Stamford Bridge. 13 players have followed Alonso through the door at Chelsea, with a whopping 37 leaving either permanently or on loan. Under BlueCo’s ownership, Chelsea have relentlessly pursued a youth-focused recruitment policy, but this summer saw the first tentative moves away from that approach. Deals for Honest Anahor and Geovany Quenda still represent large outlays on young, unproven talent, but the signings of Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson demonstrate a club that has finally recognised the importance of hardened, experienced leaders within their dressing room. Alonso appears set to deploy a 3-4-2-1 at Chelsea this season, and so the signings of Marco Palestra and Pep Chavarria should suit that system down to a tee. Maxence Lacroix adds further experience to the centre of defence, while a poor opening game from Robert Sanchez saw the Blues jump at the opportunity to sign World Cup winner Emi Martinez for only £7.5miillion. Morgan Rogers represents the jewel in the crown of Chelsea’s summer incomings, but his eye-watering £177m fee will largely be offset by another impressive summer of selling, which sits at more than £400m with add-ons. Morgan Rogers was Chelsea’s marquee summer signing (Picture: Reuters) The Blues managed to raise in excess of £115m for Nicolas Jackson and Liam Delap, who were both deemed surplus to requirements in west London, while Enzo Fernandez’s protracted saga came to a close on deadline day as he joined Manchester City for £125m. But a failure to replace the Argentine could prove a mistake, and leave many wondering if the Blues have the depth in central midfield to turn their positive start into a sustained title challenge over the course of the whole season. Instead, the 24-year-old has fitted seamlessly into Chelsea’s new-look front three with a goal and assist in his first two league matches. Rogers, in many ways, represents the perfect blend of Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer: powerful and physical in all areas of the pitch, but also more than capable with the ball in tight spaces and in front of goal. Alonso’s Chelsea have already shown an ability to punish opponents in transition, a style of play that should suit Rogers and the rest of the front three down to the g
Manchester United reportedly had a genuine interest in Arsenal star Myles Lewis-Skelly this summer, though he was too expensive. It seems the Red Devils explored a number of options in midfield in the last few months, with their three new signings in that position ending up as Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos, and Carlos Baleba. Wayne Rooney has sent a strong transfer message to Michael Carrick (Picture: BBC Sport) Wayne Rooney has warned Michael Carrick he will end up ‘paying the price’ if Manchester United relent from making any further signings. The transfer window closes on Tuesday with United still appearing to have several glaring weaknesses in their squad to address. Sunday’s 5-2 win over Ipswich Town helped rebuild momentum after United’s opening weekend setback against Hull, but Rooney fears that victory could end up papering over obvious cracks. United’s recruitment efforts this summer have largely focused on rebuilding their midfield engine room with Andrey Santos, Carlos Baleba and Youri Tielemans all having joined in the wake of Casemiro’s departure and Manuel Ugarte’s serious injury. Exclusive Premier League previews Get ahead of the start of the season with our weekly football newsletter. Sign up now for free. Defensively, and particularly at full-back, United look vulnerable with Luke Shaw given the runaround by Ipswich winger Fatawu Issahaku, while Rooney also has concerns with his old club’s forward line. Indeed, United’s record goalscorer believes the onus should be on Carrick to apply pressure and ensure United’s key decision maker arm him with the tools he requires. Rooney told the United Stand: ‘I hope the game doesn’t hide that, or hide behind today’s result and say they’re OK. We’ve won this game 5-2 and everything is rosy. Michael Carrick will want to make more signings (Picture: Getty) ‘Michael’s got to and push. The next two days he’s got to go in, he’s got to be banging on the door saying I need more players, players to improve the squad, improve the starting XI. If you give us these players it might be the difference between winning a trophy or finishing in the top four. ‘I think he has to be strong and really push for that, if we don’t I think we saw Mazraoui not doing to well when he came on either, we could end up paying the price. ‘They’ll have ideas and constant conversations which will be going on and there will be a list of players who are there. ‘Listen, I think it’s important you don’t just go and buy anyone for the sake of it. {"@context":"https:\/\/schema.org","@type":"VideoObject","name":"Carrick praises Man Utd for overcoming setback in explosive 5-2 win over Ipswich","contentUrl":"https:\/\/videos.metro.co.uk\/video\/met\/2026\/08\/31\/7586138516765390594\/480x270_MP4_7586138516765390594.mp4","description":"Bruno Fernandes scored a hattrick and bagged an assist as the cherry on the cake.","duration":"T8M38S","height":270,"thumbnailUrl":"https:\/\/i.dailymail.com\/1s\/2026\/08\/31\/07\/110948227-0-image-a-1_1788159275197.jpg","uploadDate":"2026-08-31T07:58:15+0100","width":480} To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Up Next Previous Page Next Page window.addEventListener('metroVideo:relatedVideosCarouselLoaded', function(data) { if (typeof(data.detail) === 'undefined' || typeof(data.detail.carousel) === 'undefined' || typeof(data.detail.carousel.el_) === 'undefined') { return; } var player = data.detail.carousel.el_; var container = player.closest('.metro-video-player'); var placeholder = container.querySelector('.metro-video-player__up-next-placeholder'); if (placeholder) { container.removeChild(placeholder); container.classList.add('metro-video-player--related-videos-loaded'); } }); ‘I know I’m saying there he has to go and try and get more players and put pressure on them to do that, but I think it’s important they don’t just waste money on someone who isn’t good enough. ‘If the right one isn’t there I get you need to be a bit patient and trust the players you’ve got.’ Pressed on which areas of the team United needed to strengthen in, Rooney added: For me it’s goals.
