Phil Parkinson says Wrexham will take encouragement from their narrow 1-0 defeat to Liverpool, and insisted they still know where to improve. Teenager Rio Ngumoha scored the only goal at Yankee Stadium in New York, while Wrexham went closest through Kieffer Moore late on. Wales goalkeeper Danny Ward was forced to make early saves against his old club as Parkinson felt Wrexham were loose to start.
Phil Parkinson has confirmed that Elliot Lee and Ryan Hardie missed Wrexham's 1-0 pre-season friendly win over Manchester United due to injury. Lee, 31, and Hardie, 29, were not part of the squad that travelled to Helsinki, Finland but were named in the group that went to Poland last week. Attacking midfielder Lee, who has been at Wrexham since 2022, played the second half of a 0-0 draw against Wilsa Krakow.

Former Wrexham player and manager Brian Flynn believes the Red Dragons will bolster their ranks in the summer to ensure they are "stronger and better" in 2026-27. Phil Parkinson's men narrowly missed out on the Championship play-offs as they were pipped to sixth spot by Hull City on the final day of the 2025-26 regular season. "Players like Ollie Rathbone have come up with important goals, Josh Windass is a Championship player, so they will definitely come back stronger and better next season, without a shadow of a doubt."
