Aberdeen have signed German goalkeeper Daniel Klein on a two-year contract. The 25-year-old was a free agent after leaving Bundesliga side Augsburg this summer and will provide cover and competition for current number one Marius Muller and fellow goalkeeper Nick Suman. Klein didn't make a single appearance for Augsburg last term and last featured, for their B team, in a competitive game in May 2025.
Jota's return from long-term injury will come too late for the winger to play in upcoming Europa League games after the Portuguese was left out of Celtic's squad along with three of their summer signings. Joel van den Berg, the 19-year-old bought from PSV Eindhoven, and two on-loan Chelsea midfielders - forward Shim Mheuka and midfielder Landon Emenalo - also miss out after their arrivals this week. The 27-year-old Jota suffered a cruciate ligament injury in April 2025 but returned to training last month, with assistant manager Shaun Maloney stressing "he's still a matter of weeks" away from a return.
