Chelsea have made a move to sign Georginio Wijnaldum on a free transfer (AFP via Getty) Chelsea are in talks to sign former Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum on a free transfer, according to reports. On deadline day, Chelsea finally approved the £125 million sale of Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City but aimed to bring in a midfield replacement before the end of the window. Xabi Alonso is an admirer of Martin Zubimendi but Chelsea’s approach for the Spanish midfielder was swiftly rejected by Arsenal. Chelsea then agreed a deal with Monaco worth €55 million (£47.1m) for Lamine Camara but the Ligue 1 side cancelled their agreement with an hour to go before the deadline. The 35-year-old remains without a club but has recently held talks with Major League Soccer side Real Salt Lake. Georginio Wijnaldum won the Premier League title Liverpool in 2020 (Getty) Despite the summer transfer window closing on Tuesday, Premier League clubs are still allowed to sign players who are free agents. Wijnaldum was a key part of Liverpool’s success under Jurgen Klopp, helping the club win the Premier League and Champions League in five seasons at Anfield. The midfielder then joined Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent in 2021 before making the move to Saudi Arabia two years later. For Al-Ettifaq last season, Wijnaldum scored 17 goals and registered seven assists in 34 appearances. If he makes the move to Chelsea, Wijnaldum would link up with his former Liverpool teammate Jordan Henderson, who joined Stamford Bridge as a free agent in August. Monaco sporting director Thiago Scuro has explained why Chelsea's Deadline Day move for Lamine Camera collapsed, and how it was affected by Everton's failed move for team-mate Folarin Balogun. The Ligue 1 side had made it clear keeping the midfielder was "our priority" despite approaches by "several clubs" over the summer and Chelsea, "always testing and trying".
Liverpool are reportedly planning to replace Alexis Mac Allister with Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara after holding initial talks. The Reds seemingly didn’t make a new midfielder one of their priorities for this transfer window, but it seems plans are already in place for changes in that position next year. That’s according to a report from […] The post Contact made: Liverpool already planning transfer to replace star with 151 appearances appeared first on CaughtOffside.
On one hand, the Iliman Ndiaye is a player of superlative skill, evasive, quick and wonderfully entertaining with the ball at his feet. Ndiaye was responsible for 73 of Everton's 250 completed dribbles last season, the highest share of any Premier League player. Everton fans may also point to recent moves in the Premier League involving Manchester City, such as the sale of Savio to Tottenham for an initial £75m, as further evidence that the club should have demanded more for Ndiaye.
Everton fan group The 1878s, which organises pre-match flag and banner displays at Hill Dickinson Stadium, has issued another strong statement following a dramatic end to the club's summer transfer window. Iliman Ndiaye, Beto, Nathan Patterson and Tim Iroegbunam headed for the exit door on deadline day, despite David Moyes insisting Everton "are not in a hurry to sell our best players" just five days ago.
