IAN LADYMAN: If Manchester United had a defence as reliable and immovable as the one their manager presents to the world, then they would be higher up the Premier League table.
The Telegraph's Luke Edwards says Roberto de Zerbi's comments that "you can't just build the team with the names like in Football Manager" after his Tottenham side drew against Nottingham Forest on Saturday "ring a little bit hollow". After a goalless draw at the City Ground left Spurs still searching for a first win of the season, head coach De Zerbi also told Sky Sports Spurs "have to improve in every part of football, organisation with and without the ball".
Former Rangers goalkeeper Cammy Bell says the club's big-money signing Kevin Kelsy must step up in Lawrence Shankland's absence. Scotland striker Shankland went off in the early stages of Saturday's 1-0 win over Motherwell, with manager Derek McInnes later saying it appears to be a "significant" hamstring injury. Shankland was replaced by Ryan Naderi, who scored Rangers' winner against the Steelment, but Bell believes it will be Kelsy - signed from Portland Timbers on deadline day for a reported fee of £9m - who McInnes trusts to lead the line going forwards.
Former Premier League striker Clinton Morrison says Manchester United have "problems at the back" after twice letting a lead slip to draw 2-2 at Everton on Sunday. Ainsley Maitland-Niles' stoppage-time equaliser was the sixth goal Michael Carrick's side have conceded in the three games so far. This is the first campaign in five years where United have let in at least two goals in each of their first three league matches.
