Chelsea striker Liam Delap (Picture: Getty) Liam Delap is keen to remain in the Premier League after Como reportedly made an approach to sign the Chelsea striker. Chelsea beat a host of rivals, most notably Manchester United, to sign Delap in a £30million deal from Ipswich Town last summer. Much was expected of the young Englishman after a promising first season in the English top flight with Ipswich, but Delap struggled to kick on in his maiden season at Stamford Bridge. In a campaign affected by injury and suspension, Delap only scored two goals in 41 appearances and was forced to play backup to fellow summer signing Joao Pedro. And Delap appears to have fallen further down the pecking order this summer after the arrival of Emmanuel Emegha and Danny Welbeck as well as the return of Nicolas Jackson from his loan spell at Bayern Munich. Chelsea are said to value Delap at £40m, with a host of Premier League clubs said to be interested in signing the 23-year-old. However, there is also interest from abroad, with Como making an approach to sign Delap in recent days. Liam Delap is wanted by Italian side Como (Picture: Getty) The Serie A side are keen on a loan move for the striker as Cesc Fabregas looks to bolster his options ahead of the new season. But talkSPORT reports that Delap is keen to stay in the Premier League and wait for offers from English top-flight clubs. Everton, Nottingham Forest and Leeds United have all previously been credited with interest in the former Ipswich striker. Chelsea are also willing to sell Nicolas Jackson before the end of the window (Picture: Getty) Delap might not be the only striker heading for the exit this summer at Chelsea, with the club also open to offers for Jackson. Chelsea are said to value Jackson at £65m, with Aston Villa and Newcastle United both said to have made approaches for the Senegalese international. Speaking earlier in the pre-season when asked about Jackson’s future, new Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso said: ‘Yes, Nico is a great player. ‘He’s a threat to play against any defence, so we want to have players that can compete, and Nico for sure is one of them. ‘We need to go day by day checking options, but we are happy that Nico is with us.’ For more stories like this, check our sport page. Raúl Jiménez marked his return to Wolves with the stoppage-time equaliser that saved them from an embarrassing start to their return to the Championship. The Mexico striker, who scored against England during the World Cup, came off the bench to convert a penalty given for handball by Ryan Alebiosu that would have had VAR questioning whether the defender was in the area when Jackson Tchatchoua’s cross struck his arm.One minor consolation from Wolves’ relegation is that the video assistant referee is no longer their problem. Jiménez, who had bought scarves for all supporters in the South Bank in gratitude for their welcome home, tucked away his first goal in this second spell for the club he graced during their recent heyday before leaving for Fulham. Liverpool will submit an offer to PSG for Ibrahim Mbaye (Getty) Liverpool are planning to submit a bid to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye, according to reports in France. Mbaye has been with PSG’s academy since the age of 10 and made his first-team debut under Luis Enrique two years ago. Last season, the 18-year-old scored three goals and registered two assists in 29 appearances for PSG as Luis Enrique’s side won Ligue 1 and the Champions League. But after returning from Senegal’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign at the end of January, Mbaye was only used sparingly by Luis Enrique and was left out of the squad for PSG’s derby against Lyon in April. He was ready, but I expect much more from all the players. It’s simply competition, a player has to stay out of the team. You have to enjoy every minute.’ Ibrahim Mbaye scored in Senegal’s defeat to France at the World Cup (AFP via Getty) At the World Cup this summer, Mbaye made four appearances and scored after coming off the bench in Senegal’s 3-1 defeat to France. Liverpool have already held extensive talks with PSG to sign Bradley Barcola this summer but according to L’Equipe, the Premier League club are planning to submit an opening bid for Mbaye ‘in the coming days’. The report adds that Liverpool will hold a fresh round of negotiations with PSG over a deal for Barcola next week. PSG continue to demand a €150m (£128m) transfer fee for Barcola, which Liverpool have been unable to match so far. Earlier this week, Spanish outlet AS claimed that Liverpool face strong competition for Mbaye as Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Aston Villa, Porto, RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and Roma have all made enquiries this summer. PSG are understood to be open to selling Mbaye but will demand a transfer fee in excess of €50 million (£42.7m) For more stories like this, check our sport page.
