Chelsea striker Liam Delap (Picture: Getty) Liam Delap is keen to remain in the Premier League after Como reportedly made an approach to sign the Chelsea striker. Chelsea beat a host of rivals, most notably Manchester United, to sign Delap in a £30million deal from Ipswich Town last summer. Much was expected of the young Englishman after a promising first season in the English top flight with Ipswich, but Delap struggled to kick on in his maiden season at Stamford Bridge. In a campaign affected by injury and suspension, Delap only scored two goals in 41 appearances and was forced to play backup to fellow summer signing Joao Pedro. And Delap appears to have fallen further down the pecking order this summer after the arrival of Emmanuel Emegha and Danny Welbeck as well as the return of Nicolas Jackson from his loan spell at Bayern Munich. Chelsea are said to value Delap at £40m, with a host of Premier League clubs said to be interested in signing the 23-year-old. However, there is also interest from abroad, with Como making an approach to sign Delap in recent days. Liam Delap is wanted by Italian side Como (Picture: Getty) The Serie A side are keen on a loan move for the striker as Cesc Fabregas looks to bolster his options ahead of the new season. But talkSPORT reports that Delap is keen to stay in the Premier League and wait for offers from English top-flight clubs. Everton, Nottingham Forest and Leeds United have all previously been credited with interest in the former Ipswich striker. Chelsea are also willing to sell Nicolas Jackson before the end of the window (Picture: Getty) Delap might not be the only striker heading for the exit this summer at Chelsea, with the club also open to offers for Jackson. Chelsea are said to value Jackson at £65m, with Aston Villa and Newcastle United both said to have made approaches for the Senegalese international. Speaking earlier in the pre-season when asked about Jackson’s future, new Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso said: ‘Yes, Nico is a great player. ‘He’s a threat to play against any defence, so we want to have players that can compete, and Nico for sure is one of them. ‘We need to go day by day checking options, but we are happy that Nico is with us.’ For more stories like this, check our sport page. Chelsea won’t be leaving the country for the rest of the season with no European football on the agenda this term but it gives Xabi Alonso the opportunity to focus solely on the Premier League. His side begin their season away to Fulham in a west London derby a week on Monday with today a final opportunity to welcome back some of those players returning from their World Cup breaks – including record signing Morgan Rogers. Galatasaray are refusing to sell Victor Osimhen this summer (Getty) Galatasaray have ruled out the prospect of selling Victor Osimhen to Arsenal before the end of the transfer window, according to reports in Turkey. Arsenal have discussed a potential move for Osimhen during talks with Galatasaray over deals for Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri. Osimhen, who permanently joined Galatasaray in a €75 million (£64.8m) deal from Napoli last summer, has played a major role in helping the Turkish club win consecutive league titles with 59 goals in 74 appearances across the last two seasons. When asked about his future after scoring twice in Galatasaray’s 2-2 draw at home to newly promoted Corum FK in the opening game of the new Super Lig season on Friday night, Osimhen refused to rule out the prospect of moving clubs before the end of the window. I’m focused on my work. We’ll see and think about what comes next then.’ Victor Osimhen scored twice in Galatasaray’s 2-2 draw with Corum FK on Friday night (Anadolu via Getty) However, according to 343 Digital, Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek is privately adamant that Osimhen will not be sold under any circumstances. ‘I will not say ‘yes’ to any transaction that will harm Galatasaray or not benefit Galatasaray,’ Ozbek is said to have told his inner circle. ‘What I said about Baris Alper Yilmaz, I am now saying even more strongly about Osimhen. No matter how much the price is, I am not selling Osimhen.’ Earlier this week, Galatasaray rejected a €130m (£111m) bid from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal for the Nigeria international. In an exclusive interview with Metro last year, John Obi Mikel revealed that the 27-year-old striker was keen on joining a club capable of winning the Champions League and advised him against a move to the Saudi Pro League. ‘I think we want to see him in the Champions League so maybe Arsenal might be the destination. Maybe there is a door open there for Victor,’ said Obi Mikel, who was directly involved in Chelsea’s failed negotiations to sign Osimhen two years ago. ‘I’ve had a few conversations with him. I won’t say much about what those conversations were but he is working to make sure he ends up at a top, top European league where he can showcase his talent and compete to win the Champions League.’ For more stories like this, check our sport page.
