Everton fan Matt Dillon says Eddie Howe may bide his time until David Moyes leaves the Toffees and then ensure his name is in contention to take over. Howe - who is understood to have left his role at Newcastle on Thursday - has spoken about being a boyhood Everton fan, and Moyes has just one year remaining on his current deal at the club in what is his second spell in charge. "I just thought, especially with the inkling he's going to take a little bit of time away, that said to me he's thinking 'I'm gonna wait until David Moyes gets canned and then throw my hat in the ring'," Dillon told BBC Radio Merseyside.
