"Manchester United can confirm that Manuel Ugarte has undergone successful surgery to address a knee ligament injury," said the club.
Manuel Ugarte suffered a knee ligament injury whilst at the World Cup with Uruguay and there have been several questions submitted via our Manchester United Ask Me Anything form about whether the Old Trafford club will be compensated for it. The money doesn't come from Uruguay, it comes from Fifa's insurers. It is not completely clear what Ugarte's salary is because most Premier League players will have bonuses and image rights included as part of their contract.
