Manchester United forward Shea Lacey scored twice as Adam Lawrence's side continued their winning start to their Premier League 2 campaign by beating Leicester 4-1 at Leigh. Lacey has been on the bench for both United's Premier League games so far this season and was brought on during the second half as Michael Carrick's side suffered a shock defeat at Hull. Significantly, full-back Harry Amass was not involved amid conflicting reports over the 19-year-old being in talks with Burnley.

The teenager impressed in pre-season but Rooney is struggling to see where opportunities will present themselves if Carrick isn’t prepared to blood Lacey in matches where the result has already been determined. Rashford’s time in Manchester appeared to be up when he joined Barcelona on loan last summer, a deal that was expected to be made permanent in a £26million deal. The Spanish giants however did not take up their option to sign the forward, instead bringing in Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United. Rashford has been linked with moves across the Premier League but has rejoined his teammates for training ahead of United’s Premier League opener against Hull City on Saturday 22 August. The England international joined the squad in Dublin for the pre-season clash with Leeds United at Croke Park on Wednesday evening, with Carrick’s side beating their old rivals on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Rashford was not in the squad with his manager explaining ahead of kick-off he, Kobbie Mainoo and Lisandro Martinez were ‘not quite ready yet’ with the trio set to feature in the final warm-up game against AC Milan on Saturday. While United has been prepared to offload Rashford, a lack of serious suitors suggests a move is now unlikely.
