Jarell Quansah is wanted by Arsenal (Picture: Getty) Jarell Quansah is reportedly open to joining Arsenal this summer after Bayer Leverkusen set their asking price for the versatile defender. Mikel Arteta is keen to add to his defensive options before the end of the summer transfer window after William Saliba sustained a back injury at the World Cup. The Gunners have opened talks with Aston Villa over a deal for Ezri Konsa, although there is a significant gap between both clubs’ valuation of the 28-year-old defender. Arsenal now appear to have widened their search, and are considering a move for Leverkusen defender Quansah. The 23-year-old joined the German club last year from Liverpool for £30million and made 28 league appearances in his first season. Quansah’s form saw him named in England’s World Cup squad this summer, with his performances clearly catching Arsenal’s eye as they look to sign a versatile defender who can provide cover at centre-back and right-back. Widespread reports indicate that Leverkusen do not want to sell the player, although Quansah is said to be keen on a move to the Emirates should a deal progress. That fee would be less than the €70million (£59m) buy-back option that Liverpool had for Quansah, although that clause has now expired. Asked about Arsenal’s interest in Konsa and Quansah on Friday, Arteta said: ‘I’m not going to talk about any individuals obviously. Ezri Konsa is also wanted by Arsenal (Picture: PA) ‘What I can tell you is the ambition of the club, it’s big, we want to improve the squad, we want to evolve the squad, and in order to achieve that, we have obviously detected some areas that can be strengthened. ‘That’s what we are trying to do.’ On Arsenal’s plans for the rest of the window more generally, the Spaniard added: ‘It’s a very exciting part of the season, when a lot of things happen. ‘I think you create excitement; there’s an opportunity as well to evolve. There’s also a good way to understand what every player is feeling. ‘We are trying the maximum that we can to end up in 14 days, 13 days in the best possible condition to compete for every possible competition.’ Arsenal could also sanction outgoings before deadline day, with Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri both linked with moves to Galatasaray. Osimhen is once again on Arsenal’s radar (Picture: Seskim Photo/MB Media/Getty Images) AC Milan have made an offer to sign Arsenal midfielder Ethan Nwaneri with Ruben Amorim eager to bring him to Italy this summer. Six months after being relieved of his duties at Manchester United, Amorim is leading a rebuild at the Rossoneri with seven members of the first-team squad said to have been put up for sale. Portugal star Goncalo Ramos has already been recruited to lead the attack with Amorim keen to strengthen in a number of areas. Nwaneri, among the clutch of players at the Emirates that Arsenal would be prepared to sell this summer, has also emerged as a top target with Milan making their first move this week. Gazzetta dello Sport report an initial loan offer with an option to buy for €40million (£34m) has been submitted although Arsenal have not yet considered the offer. Galatasaray have also held talks over a move for the Hale End academy graduate, who spend the second-half of last season out on loan at Marseille. The Turkish giants are eager to sign the 19-year-old and have also submitted a £38m offer for another Arsenal star in Gabriel Martinelli. During talks over those two potential deals, Arsenal have also discussed the possibility of signing Victor Osimhen from Galatasaray. It remains to be seen if any possible move could be tied to the futures of Nwaneri and Martinelli. Nwaneri also wanted by Galatasaray (Picture: Arsenal FC via Getty Images) Nwaneri became the youngest player in Premier League history when he made his debut for Arsenal in 2022, but it was not until the 2024-25 season when he established himself as a regular member of Mikel Arteta’s first-team squad. Gala have also made a bid for Martinelli (Picture: Stuart MacFarlane/Arsenal FC via Getty Images) Nwaneri made 37 appearances for his boyhood club that season and was nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award while being rewarded with a new long-term contract. The 19-year-old was expected to continue to contribute last season but only featured in six league games before being sent on loan to Marseille in January. The loan was a disappointing one, making just nine appearances. Comment now Comments Add Metro as a Preferred Source on Google Add as preferred source
