Aberdeen will take on Dutch Eredivisie side Twente in a pre-season friendly on Saturday 4, July. Stephen Robinson's side will spend a week in the Netherlands as part of their 2026-27 preparations. Prior to the match with Twente, the Dons meet Scottish League 1 Cove Rangers, managed by former Aberdeen player Paul Hartley.

Mexico City’s storied Azteca Stadium has been the stage for some of the most iconic moments in World Cup history, from Pelé’s third title to Maradona’s “Hand of God” goal. The hallowed venue hosts the 2026 World Cup opener between Mexico and South Africa on Thursday, a throwback to the 2010 curtain-raiser in Johannesburg – and a rematch between coaches who faced off as players in the same stadium 40 years ago.
Brad Lyons and Lewis Mayo are "massive losses" for Kilmarnock but their departure will allow Neil manager McCann to put his mark on the squad, says former goalkeeper Cammy Bell. Defender Mayo and captain Lyons have both joined Aberdeen, while fellow midfielder David Watson is leaving to join English Championship newcomers Bolton. "They are going to be massive losses, especially Lyons," said Bell on the BBC's Scottish Football Podcast.
Mark McGhee has revealed he was so blown away by Sir Alex Ferguson's "bonkers" ambitions for Aberdeen he had no hesitation in joining the Dons. Former striker McGhee switched from Newcastle in 1979 and had a memorable five-year spell at Pittodrie, winning the European Cup Winners' Cup and Uefa Super Cup as well as two league titles and three Scottish Cups. The 69-year-old told the BBC's Sacked in the Morning podcast about the conversation he had with boss Ferguson that convinced him to make the move to the north east.

Even among fans who didn’t want Arsenal to win the Champions League Final there was unity across club colours, cultural lines and class divides, says Darren Lewis. And he can't wait to see the World Cup do the same
Aberdeen head coach Stephen Robinson would be "questioning people's intelligence" if they can't see the overhaul needed at Pittodrie this summer. Robinson, who was named head coach in March, insists he and the board are on the same page about what needs to be done after a hugely disappointing Premiership campaign. "We are all in agreement on what we need to do and what direction we need to go, what type of players we need in and what type of mentality we need at the football club," Robinson said.
