Hibernian forward Martin Boyle has missed out on Australia's 26-man squad for the World Cup. The 33-year-old, who has 41 caps, had hoped to impress head coach Tony Popovic in the Socceroos' extended training camp. Livingston striker Tete Yengi and former Italy Under-21 winger Cristian Volpato, who are both uncapped, had been late call-ups to the training squad and both will be travelling to the United States.
Jamie McGrath was happy to leave his girlfriend heading for a Nashville holiday without him after being called up late - and straight into the Republic of Ireland starting line-up - for Thursday's 1-0 win over Qatar. The 29-year-old Hibernian midfielder was not included in Heimir Hallgrimsson's initial squad for the friendly - and the trip to Canada on 6 June - and was on holiday in Marbella when he was drafted in at short notice due to injuries. McGrath was handed a 14th cap, his first since a Nations League win in Finland in October 2024, as Ireland beat the World Cup-bound visitors in Dublin.
Scotland defender Grant Hanley admits there were times in his career where he thought competing at the World Cup was out of reach. The 34-year-old, currently at Scottish Premiership side Hibs, has struggled with injuries throughout his career. Having missed a month with a hamstring issue in February, the centre-back was forced off against Motherwell in Hibs' final game of the season but is fit and ready for the World Cup.
Celtic are aiming to win a league and Scottish Cup double for the 14th time. Dunfermline are aiming to become the fourth lower-league side to win the Scottish Cup after Hibernian (2016), East Fife (1938) and Queen's Park (1893). This is the fifth time the sides have met in the Scottish Cup final and the third time this century - all won by Celtic.
Kilmarnock midfielder Aaron Tshibola will go to the World Cup with the Democratic Republic of Congo. The 31-year-old received a late call up after Hibernian's Rocky Bushiri was ruled out of the finals with an injury. Tshibola, who has 16 caps, has been a standout for Killie since joining in February and was key to the four wins in a row which secured Premiership safety.
Hibernian have confirmed centre-back Rocky Bushiri will miss the World Cup through injury. The 26-year-old was selected in the 26-man squad for the Democratic Republic of Congo after helping them to a first World Cup finals for 52 years. "Everyone is devastated for Rocky, and the timing of this injury couldn't be worse for him so close to the World Cup," said Hibs head coach David Gray.
Rowena Armitage (Hibernian): Back-to-back starts for the 17-year-old for the first time and was part of a professional performance for Joelle Murray's side. Gill Inglis (Motherwell): A true legend of the SWPL hung up her boots as Iain Robinson's side remained unbeaten in the split. Emma Brownlie (Glasgow City): Kept her former team-mates at arms length in their quest for the win which would've handed them the title.
Motherwell manager Jens Berthel Askou has been speaking to the media as his side prepare for Saturday's trip to Hibernian in the final game of the season. Askou says it wasn't hard to move on from the emotions of Wednesday night's defeat to Celtic: "You have to deal with emotions straight away and put them behind you and then focus on what's coming." Given the controversy around VAR, especially after Wednesday night, Askou says it's not something he or his players think about when they approach a game.
