Scotland star John McGinn says he was "desperate" to join Celtic in the summer of 2018 before eventually leaving Hibernian for Aston Villa. Calafiori and Luke Shaw would be my two hardest opponents. ‘Luke Shaw because I needed to completely adapt my game with Luke Shaw. Because we’re of similar build. He’s one I had to completely try and adapt [to]. The 29-year-old swapped Villa Park for Old Trafford this summer, with the Red Devils signing the midfielder for a reported £35 million. Tielemans makes the move after three seasons at Villa which saw him play 134 times across all competitions, scoring 10 goals. McGinn is full of praise for the Belgium international, who he says brings a huge amount to a club off the field as well as on it. Work rate, quality. ‘Just a good teammate and all-round good guy, but he’s got quality as well. He can find a pass, he can score a brilliant goal. I’m talking about the complete player here. ‘I saw Jonny Evans talk about him a couple of weeks ago in the media and he said he’s probably what United have been missing. We’re going to lose him on and off the pitch, he’s a top player and so determined to win. When he signed, I thought good player, [but] slow and unfit, looked a bit fat. That’s what I thought. Then he took his top off and I’m like, woah, maybe not. He’s not going to burst away from you with speed, but that’s not his game. Chelsea fans have been asked not to sing a controversial song (Picture: Getty Images) Chelsea plan to send a message to fans and threaten them with bans over an offensive chant heard during Monday’s win at Fulham. The Blues started the season with a 3-2 victory in the west London derby, with goals from the impressive front three of Joao Pedro, Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer. The club will respond to the behaviour of some of their fans, though, after a sectarian chant was heard from the away supporters. Known as the ‘Flute for 50 pence song’, the chant includes the line ‘F*** the Pope and the IRA’. The Daily Mail reports that Chelsea will email all fans who bought a ticket for the game and ask them not to sing the song at future games. The club will also point out that a ban from attending matches is a possibility for anyone who does chant the chant. It was a performance to build for the future. There are things to improve for sure, but it was a good first day.’ He added: ‘[It’s important] to manage in difficult moments, not to lose this emotional control. We know the Premier League is fantastic because sometimes the games are out of your hands. ‘You don’t control them, so the players on the pitch need to know how to manage it – it’s as important as the tactics being right.
